SALE OF PART OF KETTLESTONE

NOVEMBER 15TH 1918 PART OF KETTLESTONE FOR SALE

J.S. Scott-Chad was the owner of Thursford Hall and some of Kettlestone was in his estate. Money was tight at the end of the war and the government had decreed that land owners would have to help the government cover the cost of the First World War. Many Estate owners decided to sell up vast areas and pull in their resources. For the Scott-Chads this meant selling Thursford Hall and its estates and moving to Pinkney Hall in Tatterford.
